The City Manager's Update is a regular news briefing that is provided to the citizens of Galt. The Update includes important City news, updates on key initiatives and projects, and how the City is delivering services and responding to any concerns from our community.

BI-WEEKLY REPORT - June 5, 2017

Officer Hammack was recognized Saturday, June 3, 2017, by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his 2016 efforts in driving under the influence investigations.

Vendors for Motorola were in the police facility to prewire and prepare the dispatch center for its planned radio upgrades which should occur later this month.

Shannon McClain successfully completed her dispatch training and was released to solo duties. There is one remaining dispatcher in training.

Honor Guard member, Officer Greener, represented the Department at the Galt Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony.

KB Home (Parker Creek) – 11 new single family home permits issued for May. There are 14 lots remaining to complete the subdivision.
Elliott Homes (Woodbury Estates) – 12 new single family home permits issued for May. There are 16 lots remaining to complete phase 3B.
Emerald Park (Emerald Park 22) – 1 new single family home permit issued.

Trailridge Apartments
The Trailridge Apartments located at 409 N. Lincoln Way has submitted an application for a new two-story 14-unit apartment building adjacent to the existing 49-unit complex. The proposed new building will include eight two bedroom apartments and six one bedroom apartments. The 14-unit addition is proposed on the contiguous parcels south of the existing apartment building. One of the neighboring parcels is currently occupied with a single family residence which will be demolished as part of the project. The other parcel is vacant. Access to the new building is proposed from the two existing driveways servicing Trailridge Apartments. An emergency driveway is proposed south of the new building. The project entitlements include a rezone from R3 to R4, Site Plan and Design Review for the new building, and a lot merger.

Dry Creek Oaks
The Dry Creek Oaks Senior Project located north of the Dry Creek Golf Course submitted an application for a revised tentative subdivision map. The revisions include the following changes:

The application also included site plan and design review for the project recreation area. The 1.58 acre recreation site will contain a club house, pool and recreational court areas. The entrance to the parking lot will be on the west side of the site with access to Dry Creek Road. The developer is also requesting design approval of the single family homes. Once the application for the revised map and site plan and design review is complete, the project will be scheduled for Planning Commission and City Council public hearings.

Two parks maintenance staff members attended Playground Safety Training and Maintenance class in Elk Grove. Emergency tree removal was performed at Deadman’s Gulch for an area that was leaning towards residential homes on Cobble Way. Decomposed granite was added to the “Old Town” tree planters to remedy potential safety issues.

The Gora Aquatic Center public swimming lessons begin Monday, June 12. Visit for a list of all sessions available.

City Tots is currently accepting applications and registration fees for the 2017-2018 school year for all new students. Classes will start on Tuesday, September 5, at Marengo Ranch Elementary School.

National Academy of Athletics is hosting summer sports camps for the months of June and July, beginning Monday, June 19. Visit for more information.
