City Manager's Update

BI-WEEKLY REPORT - November 3, 2017
The police department paid their respects to one of their own, James “Fred” Jackson, who passed away on October 21, 2017. Fred was a Citizens Assisting Police Services (CAPS) Volunteer since 2000, logging over 14,450 hours of volunteer service to the Galt community and to the police department. The CAPS volunteers are members of the department’s family and when a family member is lost, it touches us all. Rest in Peace Fred.
Saturday, October 28, the Galt Police Department once again partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration for another National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Galt residents dropped off 199 pounds of medications. The program collects expired or no longer needed prescription drugs and over the counter medications, eliminating the possibility of the drugs falling to misuse. Drug Take-Back Day provides a safe, convenient, and ecologically responsible method of prescription drug disposal and allows the police department to educate the public on the potential for abuse of medications.
River Oaks 3-Carillion Blvd Construction
Excavating for the Carillion Boulevard median upgrades opposite DiMaggio Way have been backfilled. Weather permitting, the area will be paved soon. Stop signs will be installed on Carillion Boulevard at the Vintage Oak/Ambrogio Way intersection next week (all-way stop).
Stacy Schafer was hired as a Permit Technician, effective October 30, 2017. Dustin Watson was promoted to Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, effective October 30, 2017.
The City launched the new website design on October 25. You can still find us at www.ci.galt.ca.us. We have had a few hiccups along the way while transferring eleven years of data over to the new platform. If you see something incorrect, please contact the City Clerk’s Office. Thank you for your help!
The community is invited to attend the Re-Dedication of the World War I Memorial Plaque and the Dedication of the Original Flag Pole Plaque on Tuesday, November 7, 4:00 pm at the New Fourth Street Promenade. Light refreshments will be served.
