The City Manager's Update is a regular news briefing that is provided to the citizens of Galt. The Update includes important City news, updates on key initiatives and projects, and how the City is delivering services and responding to any concerns from our community.

BI-WEEKLY REPORT - February 23, 2018

In-Service Training for sworn staff was conducted on Thursday, February 22. Training included Cal-Osha Compliance Training and Gas Mask Fit-Testing provided by the Consumes Fire Department.

Two dispatchers have been attending a 120 hour Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) basic dispatcher course at the Sacramento Police Department.

Galt’s newest Police Officer, Scott Hart, was introduced at the February 20 City Council Meeting. He is a veteran of the United States Army and led the Council Meeting opening Pledge of Allegiance. Officer Hart was then ceremoniously sworn in by City Clerk Donna Settles.

On Wednesday, February 21, the Police Department saw a great turnout to the quarterly Speaker Series event. FBI Special Agent, Dustin Lee, was the featured guest speaker providing interesting and useful information on the topic of Cyber Security.

Come out and get to know your neighbors and members of the Galt Police Department on Monday, February 26, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at New Hope Church located at 200 New Hope Road. The department is looking forward to meeting with the Galt Community as they continue to develop the Community Policing Outreach. Information will be shared with the community on current events and what the Police Department is doing to address the needs of the community.

South Galt Safe Route to School and Rehabilitation/Bicycle/ Pedestrian Project
The project is expected to begin construction the week of March 5. Flyers have been distributed to residents on the streets that will be affected. A press release went out to the local papers and will be posted on social media this week. A project website has been established that will be updated frequently to provide a resource for residents to review planned work and traffic impacts. Visit

The State of the City Address hosted by the Galt District Chamber of Commerce will be held Wednesday, March 14, starting at 11:00 am at Brewsters Bar & Grill, 201 Fourth Street. Come join the event as the City Manager reflects on the City of Galt’s accomplishments of the past year and reviews plans for the future. Economist, John Mitchell, will follow with a robust economic outlook on the National, State and Local economies. To attend the event, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 209.745.2529 or at

Staff repaired two main line breaks and replaced multiple broken valve covers at Greer Basin. Powdered dirt was removed from the surface of the Galt Community Park baseball field and new infield mix was added. Facilities Maintenance helped repair a water line break to the drinking fountain at Lake Canyon Park. Fence repairs around the synthetic field at Walker Park have been completed.

City Tots will begin collecting registration fees for the two morning classes ($25 for each class) for the 2018/2019 school year beginning March 1. Waitlists will be started for the two afternoon classes.

Registration for most aquatic programs will begin March 1.
