PUBLIC WORKS

Littleton Center Parapet Repair Project
After several weeks of work interspersed with weather delays, the Littleton Center Parapet Repair Project was substantially completed this past week. This $72,000 project restored the integrity to the aging plywood around the upper perimeter of the center, providing a barrier to pests and precipitation.

Special Recycling Supplement in Sacramento Area Newspapers
The City of Galt along with the Solid Waste Working Group (representing cities and the County in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area) is participating in a special 8-page newspaper supplement on recycling contamination. The insert is scheduled for publication in Sacramento area papers over the next two weeks.

The purpose of the publication is to provide public education on the importance of clean recycling. New State laws are requiring jurisdictions to have an increased recycling diversion rate, while new international policies are limiting acceptable contamination levels for recycled materials. Residents are encouraged to read the insert and make appropriate changes in their recycling practices.

South Galt Safe Route to School and Rehabilitation/Bicycle/Pedestrian Project
Work has started on replacement of existing curb ramps with updated disability accessible ramps in the Quail Hollow area. Updated project information can be found on the City’s website under “News and Updates.” Visit www.ci.galt.ca.us.

HUMAN RESOURCES
Carlos Solorio was hired as an Administrative Analyst II for the Public Works Department effective February 26.

PARKS AND RECREATION

The City started the Galt Community Park playground project March 8. Over the next two weeks staff will be removing the existing wooden playground and sand. The estimated time of new playground equipment is April 2. Once the play structure is installed, the pit will be filled with an American with Disabilities Act (ADA) walkway and fiber woodchips. The playground is scheduled to be opened by the end of April.
