The City Manager's Update is a regular news briefing that is provided to the citizens of Galt. The Update includes important City news, updates on key initiatives and projects, and how the City is delivering services and responding to any concerns from our community.

Galt Community Park Replacement Project

The Contractor is currently installing the new playground at Galt Community Park. Once installation is complete parks staff will install engineered wood fiber. The playground installation should be complete by the end of May. 

 South Galt Safe Route to School and Rehabilitation/Bicycle/Pedestrian Project 

The contractor will continue to work on A Street, Lincoln Way and First Street with the installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps and sidewalk repairs. There will be occasions when traffic will be impacted.

The contractor will begin tree removals on First and Second Streets in preparation for ADA compliant ramps and sidewalk repairs.



The City is currently recruiting for the following positions:

Full Time Positions

Police Officer (Academy Attendee, Academy Graduate and Lateral Transfer), this is a continuous recruitment until vacancies are filled.


Lifeguard; Parks Worker I; Rec Worker I – Galt Market, and Water Conservation Officer.  These recruitments are continuous until vacancies are filled.

The American Working Dog Federation trials will be at Veterans Field May 15-20.


There are 305 swimmers registered for Galt Gators. High Schoolers had until May 14th to register without a late fee. After May 14, a late fee of $25.00 will be added.  All registration ends on May 31st.


City Tots registration for the 2018/2019 school year morning classes are now being accepted. Waitlists will be started for the two afternoon classes. Currently, we have 29 registrations for the upcoming school year.


City Tots end of the year pool parties will be May 24th and 25th at the Gora Aquatic Center. Graduation will be held May 31st at the Littleton Community Center, with Mayor Heuer overseeing the ceremony.


Registration for Schools Out Academic and Recreation (SOAR) summer program is now open. Initial registration must take place in person.  Once in the system, registration can be done online. Payments must be made in order to secure a child’s space in the program.  Fees are due no later than the Monday of the week prior.   Each day has room for 35 participants.  


During the recent park inspections, staff discovered issues and repairs are being addressed in various locations.Walker Park Playground equipment was sun damaged and this caused the slide to warp and steps to crack.Replacement parts have been ordered and are expected to be delivered the week of May 21st. Staff will replace as soon as the parts arrive. Staff removed the small slide at Ashboro Tot Lot Park due to the slide being cracked and causing a safety issue. Parts were no longer available for this playground. Twelve field lights at the Sports Complex and Harvey Park were replaced.


At the request of the school district, staff trimmed approximately 20 trees on the north side of A Street due to school buses hitting low limbs. 


Staff has rebuilt 2 sprinkler valves on East Stockton Blvd and repaired multiple sprinklers on Carillion and Walnut.


Sponsorship opportunities have been sent to local business for the Independence Day Celebration. Pre-registration for Officer Tonn Memorial Run is now open. Youth (12 and under) $15.00 Adults $35.00. Late fee will be added if payment is made after June 7, 2018. Tickets are now being sold for Fireworks at the Pool. Cost is $7.00 each or 4 for $20.00. Touch A Truck & Food Truck event in conjunction with Food Truck Mania is scheduled for Saturday June 2 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Fourth Street Promenade
