Galt Beautification Committee - 3 positions: The purpose of the committee is to act as an advisory committee to the City Council and make recommendations on projects designed to maintain and improve the appearance of public areas within the City. The ability to serve a four year term and attend one meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 10:00 am. For more information: Beautification Committee
Commission on Aging - 4 positions: The commission acts as a forum for any and all matters of concern to senior citizens of the City, and subject to the direction and approval of the City Council, to engage activities including convening voluntary associations for senior citizens, sponsoring or co-sponsoring community forums on topics of interest or concern to senior citizens. The ability to serve a four year term and attend one meeting on the fourth Thursday of each month at 10:00 am. For more information: Commission on Aging
Galt Youth Commission - 3 positions: The purpose of the commission is to collaborate with City departments, community businesses and nonprofit organizations on matters pertaining to programs and activities for teens. The commission shall encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building civic unity. The ability to serve a four year term and meet the first Monday of the month at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers. For more information: Youth Commission
Parks and Recreation Commission - 3 positions: The commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council and makes recommendations to the City Council on policy matters concerning parks and recreation issues. The ability to serve a four year term and attend one meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. For more information: Parks and Recreation Commission
Planning Commission - 4 positions: The purpose of the commission is to review matters relating to planning and development; to make recommendations on goals and policies affecting the future development and growth of the City; and to consider land use matters, such as general plan amendments, specific plans, rezones, use permits and subdivisions. The ability to serve a four year term and meet once a month on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. For more information: Planning Commission
Public Safety Committee - 3 positions: The advisory committee evaluates any public safety issues within the community brought to the committee's attention by the City Council, City staff or residents, and make recommendations to the City Council. The Public Safety Committee is composed of eleven members, five of which must be residents of the City. The ability to serve a four year term and meet bi-monthly at 6:00 pm at the Police Facility, Pescetti Community Room. For more information: Public Safety Committee
Historic Preservation Advisory Committee - 1 position: The Historic Preservation Advisory Committee recommends to the City Council the designation of cultural resources, including individual properties and historic preservation districts. The ability to serve a three year term and attend meetings on an as needed basis. Historic Preservation Advisory Committee
Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District - 1 position: The District is governed by a Board of Trustees, each representing one of the incorporated cities or one of the counties within the District’s boundaries, Each Trustee is appointed by a City Council or by the County Board of Supervisors. The goal of the District is to protect public health and welfare from diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. City Council appoints one trustee to a two-year term. Meets the third Tuesday monthly at 10:00 am in Elk Grove.
Sacramento Environmental Commission - 1 position: The Sacramento Environmental Commission (SEC) provides environmental leadership, assistance and analysis, and advice to the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors and the City Councils of Folsom, Galt, Isleton, City of Sacramento and City of Elk Grove. The SEC serves as the advisory body for the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department. Each appointed representative serves a term of three years.
