PUBLIC WORKS
The City is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Selling as the new Public Works Director for the City of Galt. Mr. Selling’s first day with the City is February 25. Mr. Selling is coming from San Joaquin County and has a strong background in Public Works. In his 26 years working for San Joaquin County, he has spent the past nine years as the Deputy Director and served as the Acting Director for a period of one year. Mr. Selling has held various positions at San Joaquin County including Engineering Services Manager, Senior Engineer, and Acting County Traffic Engineer. Mr. Selling graduated from the University of Nevada with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology and worked in the mining industry before entering public service with San Joaquin County.

Mr. Selling currently resides in Lodi with his wife and four children. When asked why he wants to work for the City of Galt, Mr. Selling replied, “I was interested in taking the next step in my career and after doing some research on the City of Galt, I really liked the small town family-friendly atmosphere Galt offers. I see this as a great opportunity to use my skills and experience to help the City of Galt meet the needs of the community.” “The City is excited to have him as part of the management team”, said City Manager Palazzo.

FINANCE
The Galt Redevelopment Agency has received notification that S&P Global has raised Galt’s long-term rating to BBB+ from BBB. This stable rating is due to Galt’s improved housing market that provides property tax revenues to fund the bond payments. The City’s continued slow and steady efforts at housing growth has gained the attention of bond ratings professionals.
