On Friday, June 21, Galt Police Department will be participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run ceremonies. The City of Galt is planning a used oil event in July. Every City of Galt resident who participates will receive an oil change kit and a new motor oil filter for every used filter that is brought for recycling. Stay tuned for more details.
Public Works Staff, with the help of CalRecycle grant funds, will be purchasing recycling containers for the Sports Complex, Galt Community Park and the Galt Market.
The City thanks the residents’ recycling efforts as the number of visitors disposing of household hazardous waste (HHW) properly has increased by 18% at the City of Elk Grove facility. City Council approved an additional $9,000 in appropriation to meet the increased demand for HHW service at the June 4 City Council Meeting. Do not forget to do a neighborhood run when you visit the facility to make sure you get the most out your recycling efforts. This will help keep this service at no-cost for Galt residents.
Dustin Watson and Arturo Garcia attended Western Detention Training. The training was to teach staff the skills and knowledge necessary to properly maintain, repair, and replace essential detention hardware in the police department holding cells.
Public Works Facilities team, with assistance from Parks and Recreation staff, worked with ChemDry to recoat a floor area inside the Parks and Recreation Administration building.
Golden Heights Deep Well Rehabilitation 2019
The Golden Heights Deep Well (Deep Well) provided over half of the City’s water in the past four years and almost all the water during the winter months. In February, during routine preventative maintenance checks, Staff discovered high vibrations from the Deep Well’s motor. Staff contracted a pump company to remove and refurbish the pump and motor for reinstallation. Fortunately, the Deep Well’s pump and motor were reinstalled prior to peak demand summer months and it is now back online.
