COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Planning Division
Galt 24 Hour Storage
The Galt Planning Division received a Design Review/Minor Use Permit application for the Galt 24 Hour Storage Project. The project is located at the northeast corner of Industrial Drive and Pringle Avenue. See location map below.

 24 hour storage

The proposed project consists of the construction of a mini-storage facility which will include: a 493 square foot office building located at the Pringle Avenue entrance; 274 shipping containers used as storage space located in rows at the south end of the project site and along the site perimeter; and 84 outdoor RV/boat storage spaces ranging in size from 10’ x 20’ to 15’ x 50’. See site plan below.

The project is located in the Light Industrial zone and requires a permit for the use of the shipping containers and project Design Review. Mini storage is permitted in the Light Manufacturing zone. The project is expected to be presented to the Planning Commission in late 2019.

Suzie’s Care Home
The Galt Planning Division received a Conditional Use Permit application for Suzie’s Care Home, a 15-bed residential care facility located at 11098 Twin Cities Road. Suzie’s Care Home is an existing business providing care services to adults with developmental disabilities. The care home operates in a 5,272 square foot home on 4.85 acres. The facility also includes staff bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, game room and open patio.

The site is located in the newly annexed Eastview area, which requires City approval. A large residential care facility, seven or more, is not a permitted use in the low-density residential zone. As a result, the project includes a General Plan Amendment to change the land use from Low Density Residential to Medium Density Residential. The project is expected to be presented to the Planning Commission and to City Council late 2019, early 2020.

PARKS AND RECREATION
Parks
The City of Galt is facing an operating budget deficit of $1.1 million for the upcoming fiscal year. Effective July 1, in one of many steps that will be taken to eliminate the deficit, the City will be reducing its parks mowing schedules to once a month.

This service reduction has a direct impact on the City’s budget and as funding becomes available in the future, the City may increase landscape service intervals to a higher frequency. Weekly mow service will continue on all sports playing fields. The City of Galt appreciates the residents’ understanding.

Recreation
City Tots Preschool is currently accepting registration fees for the upcoming school year. The morning classes currently have openings and a waitlist is available for afternoon classes.

The Galt Gators competed in the Eureka Conference Championships at the Roseville Aquatic Center. The Galt Gators placed second in the event. Eight of the swimmers received high point awards.

The Galt Market will be celebrating National Farmer’s Market Week on Wednesday, August 7. There will be farmers and produce vendors offering cooking demonstrations with produce sold at the market, healthy recipes, kid’s activities and much more.
