Recycling Services
In California, all used household batteries are considered hazardous waste and must be recycled with an authorized household hazardous waste facility, a universal waste handler, or authorized recycling facility. Currently, the City of Galt contracts with the City of Elk Grove Special Waste Collection Center and Cal-Waste for the recycling of household batteries. A bin, specifically for the recycling of household batteries, will soon be installed at or near the Galt Police Department and the Municipal Service Center, making it more convenient and easy for Galt residents to dispose of household batteries. Additional information will be soon be provided. For questions regarding this or any other solid waste topics, please contact Public Works at 209.366.7260.

Keep It Clean
Recycling contamination is one of the leading causes of the nationwide recycling crisis. To help ensure that recyclables are being processed, please make sure to rinse cans or plastic containers before placing them in blue recycling cart. Also, any food or beverage related packaging such as milk cartons and frozen food boxes that have a shiny film or coating are not recyclable.
