Community Development

The Community Development Department is comprised of the following Divisions: Planning, Building, Code Compliance and Redevelopment.

The mission of the Planning Division is to maintain and administer the City's General Plan, Specific Plans, Zoning Code and Subdivision and Sign Ordinances and to ensure compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act. The Planning Division is here to serve the community by answering questions and working with property owners and the public to plan for new businesses and residential neighborhoods. Planning staff provides professional recommendations to the Planning Commission and City Council as part of their decision making process and also works with other jurisdictions regarding regional planning issues.
