I have lived in Galt for the last 20 years. I was owner of the Olde Towne Gift Shoppe at the corner of Fourth and C Streets for eight years. I was first elected to City Council in 2004, re-elected in 2008, and 2012. I served as Mayor of the City of Galt from 2010 to 2012. Because of my belief that the youth of Galt are the future of our community, I established the Galt Youth Committee. I was also one of the founding members of the Galt Youth Master Plan, the John Moran Scholarship for Community Service, and I worked with youth on the Safe Routes to School Program. As a Director of SACOG (Sacramento Area Council of Governments), I was instrumental in getting the Downtown Commuter Express Bus and a direct bus route to Cosumnes River College, South Sacramento Kaiser and the Downtown Sacramento area. Economic Development has been one of my priorities and I established the Shop Local Committee which created the Tuesday Night Market, Easter Eggstravaganza, and other events. The Old Town and Downtown revitalization has made outstanding progress and I am proud to have been a part of that project. An "Open Door to City Hall" policy was another priority, meeting and talking with citizens about their concerns. The City held an event known as the Community Gathering where all the council members, commission and committee members, city department heads, police department, school board trustees and other public agencies held an open house at McCaffrey Middle School to meet the public, answer questions and listen to concerns from the community. It has been a pleasure to work with the City of Galt, the Galt School Districts and the citizens for a better community.
